My residency is coming to an end, and to mark this moment I thought it would be a great opportunity to experience some new writers work, and to bring a small influx of new scripts to Waterford city. A selection of writers from around the country will converge at Central Arts on Friday 24th of February at 8pm to present five new pieces.
I was first welcomes into Central Arts through the open mic where I shared excerpts of my work monthly. Directors Ciara & John liked my style and invited me to perform YER WAN, which I did for four nights. It was moderately successful- I'm not going to lie, we didn't pack the house out, but at that point I was pretty much unknown and self produced. What I did find was an amazing group of people, a group of young people- techs, engineers, musicians, writers, comedians, and that had me back like a moth to a flame. I even made a very good friend who I organised gigs with for a year or so after.
I wanted to give a selection of young people that chance too, to come in and experience Central Arts for what it is-a vibrant welcoming creation space. So here's hoping the groups & audience alike enjoy the night. Please come along and give them a big Waterford Welcome!
The event is only a fiver, you can BYOB, and over all it will be a nice relaxed affair! See you there?
